The Valley Nursery School Environmental Policies
We seek to improve our environmental policies and improve codes of practice.
We are committed to working in a sustainable way.
Our aim is to reduce pollution and waste:
We aim to reduce the use of energy, water and other resources;
We aim to raise awareness by educating children and the employees;
Where possible we expect similar environmental standards from our suppliers and
contractors.
In order to reduce the impact of the environment, we:
Reduce:
Purchase environment friendly cleaning products where possible;
Use water collected by water butt for certain activities;
Have added new insulation and double glazing to reduce heating wastage;
Wash clothes on low temperatures;
Encourage parents to use bio-degradable nappies;
Conserve energy by using energy saving light bulbs;
Shut down computers and lights when not in use;
Encourage parents and staff to walk whenever possible, or use local transport/car share;
Dry washing outside;
Buy locally sourced products as well as growing our own produces on site in our new polytunnel.
Re-use:
Old clothes and toys are collected from the Nursery by the hospice van each term;
Old towels and sheets are re-used as cloths.
